DRDO was formed in 1958 from the amalgamation of the then already functioning Technical Development Establishment (TDEs) of the Indian Army and the Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP) with the Defence Science Organisation (DSO). DRDO was then a small organisation with 10 establishments or laboratories. Over the years, it has grown multi-directionally in terms of the variety of subject disciplines, number of laboratories, achievements and stature.

At least First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

Un Reserved (UR) : Not Exceeding 28 Years
OBC (Non - Creamy layer ) : Not Exceeding 31 Years
SC / ST : Not Exceeding 33 Years
Application Fee & Mode of Payment : General and OBC male candidates are required to pay a non‐refundable non‐transferable application fee of `100/‐ (Rs. One Hundred only) payable online only. There is no application fee for SC/ST and women candidates.

- On successful registration, the candidates may login before the closing date of the advertisement to fill the application form online. The candidates are required to upload the requisite certificates (See Para IV for details), the details of the application fee payment (if not exempted) and lock the application before submission of the same.
