Similar to Delhi and Mumbai, the fare for all sectors starting May 25 has also been capped.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the ministry would try to ensure that as many people as possible get air tickets at cheaper rates and reach their destinations in times of trouble. The highest and lowest rent of all the spaces has been fixed for this.
He said that the airlines will start selling the airfare by dividing it into different parts. The airlines have directed that they fix their buckets according to the highest and lowest fares fixed by the ministry. Apart from this, the airlines have also been told that they will sell 40 per cent of the tickets at less than the minimum fare fixed by the ministry.
In addition, Hardeep Singh Puri said that the flights have been divided into seven blocks in terms of fares. The highest and lowest fares will be determined on the basis of these blocks. He said flights up to 40 minutes have been added to the first sector.
