Ahmedabad tops list of 100 smart cities in development / country, PM Modi's parliamentary constituency lags behind.
While the Modi government launched the Smart City Scheme for Urban Development with the dream of creating a smart city across the country, Ahmedabad topped the live ranking of the country's 100 smart cities.

There is good news for Gujaratis in the live ranking of 100 smart cities of the country. Because Ahmedabad has come first in the list of 100 smart cities. While PM Modi's constituency Varanasi has moved to fifth position. In the new ranking of the country's smart city projects, Ahmedabad ranks first while Indore in Madhya Pradesh ranks second. Agra has jumped from fourth to third place.
Speaking of state level in UP, Agra is at the top. Notably, Union Urban and Housing Secretary Hardeep Puri, who recently arrived at the inauguration of the Metro project, also lauded the work of Agra Smart City. While PM Modi also praised the command and control system created under Agra Smart City.
It may be noted that Varanasi is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Due to this, the opposition is keeping an eye on the work being done for the development of Varanasi. Based on the fund transfer, the Ministry of Urban Development has determined the live ranking of cities. The final rankings for this year will be released later this month or in the first week of January.
According to media reports, the cities were to receive Rs 49-49 crore from the central and state governments under the Smart City project. In this regard, the city of Benaras has received funding from the Central Government. However, due to non-receipt of funds from the state government, Benares is ranked fifth. Smart City officials claim that the rankings will be improved by working hard in the coming quarters.
