This means that the government will now bear the burden of 12 per cent of the employees and 12 per cent of the employer's provident fund (EPF) on new appointments on low salaries between the stipulated period. The government has approved a self-reliant India employment scheme in a cabinet meeting. The central government will spend Rs 22,810 crore on the scheme. At the same time, more than 58 lakh employees will benefit from the scheme.
Who will get this benefit?
The government's decision will benefit employees earning Rs 15,000 or less per month. It will cover only employees who have not been employed in an organization affiliated with the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) before October 1, 2020 and do not have a Universal Account Number (UAN).
In addition, those who have a UAN account and a monthly salary of less than Rs.15000.00 But between March 1, 2020 and September 30, 2020, Kovid-19 lost his job in the epidemic and has not worked in any organization related to EPFO since then.
The government has also said it will bear the cost of both the companies, which employ up to 1,000 people. While the companies, which employ more than 1,000 people, will carry the burden of 12 per cent contribution of each employee for two years.
