Electric scooter companies have now started reducing rates following a change in the FAME-II scheme from the government. TVS Motors and Ather Energy, the country's leading electric scooter manufacturers, have slashed the prices of their e-scooters. Ampere has also reduced the rates of its two scooters. The government's move will benefit consumers who buy a new electric two-wheeler.
Government increased subsidy under FAME-II scheme
The central government has decided to increase the subsidy on electric two-wheelers by 50 per cent under the FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) scheme. The government has increased the subsidy for two-wheeler electric manufacturers from Rs 10,000 per vehicle to Rs 15,000 per KWH. In addition, the incentive for electric two-wheelers has been increased to 40 per cent from 20 per cent earlier.
Following the subsidy received in FAME-II scheme, TVS Motor has reduced the price of iQube electric scooter. The company has reduced the price of electric two-wheelers by Rs 11,250. The latest version of the modified iQube is priced at Rs 100,777 in Delhi and Rs 110,506 in Bangalore. Earlier, it was priced at Rs 112,027 in Delhi and Rs 121,756 in Bangalore.
Bengaluru-based electric vehicle company Ather Energy has slashed the price of its electric scooter Ather450X. The company has slashed the price of the scooter by about Rs 14,500. The new Ather 450X is priced at Rs 1,44,500 in the ex-showroom in Bangalore after the reduction. In Delhi, it is priced at Rs 1,32,426. Thus, the price of a 450 Plus electric scooter in Bangalore is Rs 1,25,490 in the ex-showroom, while in Delhi it has come down to Rs 1,33,416.
Okinawa Autotech also reduced prices
Electric two-wheeler maker Okinawa Autotech said on Wednesday it had reduced the portfolio of all its products. The company has slashed e-scooters from Rs 7,209 to Rs 17,892. This reduction in price has been done recently following the FAME-II policy. The price of the company's Praise electric scooter has come down to Rs 99,708 from Rs 1,17,600 earlier. While the new price of Praise Pro electric scooter has come down to 76,8488. Which was earlier Rs 84,79595.
Ampere has also slashed the price of its two electric scooters Magnus and Zeal to Rs 9,000. The new Ampere Zeal has been priced at Rs 59,990 at the ex-showroom in Delhi. While the new price of Magnus has come down to Rs 65,990. These prices will only apply until June 30. And those prices may change in the future.
