NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has received approval from New & Renewable Energy Limited to set up a 4750 MW Renewable Energy Park at Kutch Desert in Khawda, Gujarat.
Kutch: NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC, has asked New and Renewable Energy Ltd. to set up a 4750 MW Renewable Energy Park at India's single largest solar park at Rann of Kutch in Khawda, Gujarat. Approved. This will be the largest solar park in India.
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has been given the green signal by MNRE on 12 July 2021 under Mode 8 (Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park) of Solar Park Scheme. NTPC REL plans to produce green hydrogen commercially from the park.
As part of the green energy portfolio growth, NTPC Limited, India’s largest energy integrator, aims to build 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. Currently, the state-owned Power Major has an installed capacity of 66 GW with an additional capacity of 18 GW in 70 power projects under construction.
Recently, NTPC has also launched India's largest 10 MW (AC) floating solar on the reservoir of Simhadri Thermal Power Plant in Andhra Pradesh. An additional 15 MW (AC) will be commissioned by August 2021. In addition, a 100 MW floating solar project on the reservoir of Telangana's Ramgundam Thermal Power Plant is in the advanced stage of implementation.
NTPC RE Limited has recently signed MoUs with the Union Territory of Ladakh and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) for generation of green hydrogen and deployment in FCEV buses. The MoU is also marked in the form of solar trees and solar car ports with the opening of NTPC’s solar installations for signing.
