Gandhinagar: 10,879 gram panchayat elections will be held in Gujarat on December 19. The notification for Gram Panchayat elections will be announced on 29th November. Voting will take place on Sunday 19 December. The vote count will take place on December 21. The ideal election code of conduct will apply today.
Voters will be able to go to the polling booth from 7 am to 6 pm to cast their votes. Voting will be by ballot paper. The re-poll date (if required) is December 20. The election deadline is December 24. The last date for filing nomination papers for Gram Panchayat elections is December 4. Verification of candidature will take place on 6th December. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 7th December.
In these 10,879 estimated gram panchayats 10,284 sarpanch elections will be held as well as member elections in an estimated 89702 wards. Apart from this, occasional by-elections of vacant seats will also be held in the Gram Panchayats whose term expires after 31st March 2022 and whose term is more than one year away.
