There is good news for ration card beneficiaries. Ration dealers will now distribute rations door-to-door. That means you no longer have to wait in line for hours at the ration shop for your turn. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday inaugurated the 'Duare Ration Scheme'. Under this scheme, ration dealers will go to the homes of ration card holders in the state and deliver rations.

Inaugurating the scheme, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said it would directly benefit 100 million people in West Bengal and they would not have to stand in line for hours at ration shops. Dealers will also be paid commission for delivery of rations.
Ration dealers will get commission
Mamata Banerjee said the government would increase the commission of ration dealers from Rs 75 to Rs 150 per quintal. This means that dealers will get a commission of Rs 75 per quintal on delivery of rations. Inaugurating the scheme at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, Chief Minister Banerjee said, "This 'Duare Ration Scheme' will help 100 million people in the state. I would urge all ration dealers to make it a success. Many states of the country are trying to emulate the plans of West Bengal.
Announced at election time
It may be recalled that Mamata Banerjee had announced the scheme ahead of the Assembly elections in March-April this year. Under this scheme, dealers will deliver rations to the homes of the beneficiaries. Not only that, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to 21,000 ration dealers in the state for purchasing vehicles to provide rations to the people.
'Food Partner: Our Ration Mobile App'
At the event, Mamata Banerjee also launched the WhatsApp chatbot and a mobile app Food Companion: Our Ration Mobile App for the Food and Supplies Department of the state government. Let us inform you that through this app people will get detailed information about applying for ration card and getting all related updates.
