The Modi government has decided to extend the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, the largest scheme launched in 2015, to provide perennial irrigation water to farmers. The extension of the scheme by the Modi government will benefit an estimated 22 lakh farmers. This is a big decision of the Modi government for the farmers.
Giving information in a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that in today's meeting it has been decided to continue Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana from 2021-22 to 2025-26. Continuing this big scheme for farmers will cost an additional Rs 93,000 crore.

After the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana would benefit 22 lakh farmers.
Who can avail the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Irrigation Scheme?
Farmers should have arable land to avail this scheme. Eligible beneficiaries of this scheme will be farmers from all sections of the country. The PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana will also benefit members of SHGs, trusts, co-operative societies, corporate companies, productive farmers' groups and members of other qualified organizations.
