More than 32 lakh central government employees are going to get New Year bumper gifts soon. The central government may pay the outstanding amount of inflation allowance (DA) this month. The government is preparing to pay the outstanding DA arrears of the last 12 months at once. If this happens, the central employees may get a lump sum of more than Rs 2 lakh in the coming days.
18 months DA payment pending
According to an official report, as on March 1, 2019, the number of Central Government employees was 31.43 lakh. Due to the situation arising from Kovid, 18 months DA payment is due. According to recent reports, the central government is set to approve the 18-month pending DA of these employees this month. If the 18-month pending DA is paid, many employees will get more than Rs 2 lakh at a time.
When to advertise
A decision on this could be taken at a meeting of the central government this month. If the government announces the release of DAs that have been stuck for 18 months, up to Rs 2 lakh could be deposited in the accounts of 32 lakh central employees.
DA and DR may increase
According to reports, a decision in this regard may be taken at the next meeting of the Union Cabinet. The meeting may also decide to increase DA and DR.
Central Government employees and pensioners are given the benefit of additional DA-DR twice a year. If a decision is taken on the amount remaining for 18 months for the forthcoming meeting, then Level-1 employees will get Rs 11,50 to Rs 2,5. Similarly, level-13 employees can get Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200 at a time.
