Reduce your electricity bill with smart meter: Many people are complaining about high electricity bill and rising electricity charges. Then in Rajasthan, due to smart meters, people have started to be frugal in electricity usage. This experiment has been largely successful. Thus the most expensive electricity in the country is provided by the Rajasthan Government. However, under the central government's smart meter scheme, people are succeeding in reducing power consumption.
Under this scheme of the center, the electricity department is changing the meter of the house. The project is being implemented under the NCDX scheme of the Central Government. The advantage of installing this meter is that the customer can monitor the usage of electricity from his mobile as well as other activities including reading of power meter.
The meter is being made available to customers both postpaid and prepaid. Ordinary customers are being given a discount of 15 paisa per unit if they install a prepaid meter at their home or any institution. Taking advantage of this scheme of the government, in the initial phase, more than 250 customers in Jaipur city have installed smart meters with prepaid electricity connections. They are being given a discount of 15 paise per unit of electricity as compared to normal consumers.
Under this scheme of Central Government, Jaipur has been divided into seven zones. As a pilot project in these seven zones, more than two lakh eighty thousand customers are being fitted with smart meters by removing ordinary electricity meters. These meters are placed in homes, shops and institutions. Consumers are liking this meter and they are showing interest in it. Customers can easily convert smart meter from postpaid to prepaid if they want. The customer can monitor the entire operation of the smart meter by downloading the Bijli Mitra app in their mobile.
In Zotwada zone, 94 per cent consumers installed smart meters
AK Tyagi, superintendent engineer, Jaipur Electricity Distribution Corporation, has claimed that the project will be completed in 2023 in Jaipur city. It is learned that out of the total consumers in Zotwada zone of Jaipur city, 94 per cent consumers have been fitted with smart meters. Deepak Gurjar, an assistant engineer in the area, says that the best work is being done on smart meters so that customers do not face any problem.
