Junagadh / Villagers dreaming of independence, even if a guest comes
How many years has passed since our country became independent? This question has arisen because there are still villages in our Gujarat for which independence is still a dream. The people living in these villages are still forced into slavery. Our special presentation on this topic is Slaves of Gir
Even though the country has become independent, the condition of the people living a miserable life in the settled villages of Gir is similar to that of slavery. Their only question is when we will be free from the arbitrariness of this forest department. People living here do not get any government assistance or benefit from any government scheme.
Despite the claims that India is going digital, even after so many years of independence, the condition of these people living in the Gir forest and in the surrounding settlement villages is similar to that of the Forest Department slaves. The situation of these people living in the settlement villages is such that they have their own land but they have neither the right to sell the land nor to sell the house. No government assistance, no crop insurance. Even if a guest comes to the house of the villagers living here, they have to get the approval of the forest department.
